SUPPORTING PLAY THROUGH EXPLORATION, HELPING CHILDREN GROW, LEARN AND THRIVE

The Parish Council are excited to announce it has approved a major upgrade to South Ascot Play Park. The outdated equipment will soon be removed and replaced with a superb new playground.

The playpark will adopt a bespoke Alice in Wonderland Theme with equipment for all ages and abilities.

Some of the equipment included in the scheme are:

  • An Alice in Wonderland Tugley Wood toddler inclusive unit: woodland themed toddler climbing frame with slide and climbing rope, suitable for children aged 2-5 years
  • A Tweedledum and Tweedledee see-saw, giving children of differing ability the opportunity to play together. Designed to accommodate up to 8 children, the see-saw will offer two seating positions that can come with back panels, offering more support for children with reduced mobility.
  • Other pieces of equipment include a toddler basket swing hammock, a two-seater springer, a balance beam, a little climbing net, a rope walk for ages 7+, a set of swings, a larger uni-play with slides for ages 5-12, a Roty inclusive roundabout for 5-12 year olds, with easy access and exit, a small trampoline, play panels including sensory texture ones and a set of panels displaying emotions, communication symbols, a Hello in Braille and in British Sign Language (BSL) panel and a number of Alice in Wonderland themed puzzle panels. There will also be a buggy parking area and a bench

£150,000 has been allocated, with work projected to start in Spring 2026. Funding has been drawn from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), a developer contribution for local improvements.

The Council hope the project marks the first phase of plans to improve the site and is supported by The Sunninghill Trust, which leases the land to the Council.
