Following the public consultation on the future of Victory Field, completed in Spring 2025, the Council has now reviewed and evaluated the results.

On Tuesday, 9th December, Councillors approved the appointment of Project Centre to manage the Victory Field Refurbishment.

The Victory Field project now enters the next phase of planning, subject to further review of consultation results, a revised set of plans will be prepared, followed by further public consultation, which is expected during Summer/Autumn 2026.

Victory Field Project – Timeline & Key Decisions

  • End of 2022
    Leisure & Cultural Committee tasked with reviewing Victory Field as a whole to create a flagship recreation ground.
  • Early 2023
    Full Council agreed to appoint Project Centre to undertake a feasibility study.
  • March 2024
    Project Centre presented its vision:
    • New toddler play area
    • Relocate MUGA court
    • Revert to three tennis courts
    • Use slope for older children’s play area (quick win)
    • Optional café (long-term vision)
  • 2 July 2024
    Full Council resolved to allocate £1.1m CIL funds to proceed with the ‘quick wins’ vision https://www.gov.uk/guidance/community-infrastructure-levy 
  • 28 January 2025
    Leisure & Cultural Committee agreed to consult the community on the ‘quick wins’ vision.
  • 26 March 2025
    Consultation launched at Annual Assembly; Residents were provided with the opportunity to respond online and by completing handwritten consultation papers.
  • July 2025
    Consultation results circulated to Full Council: Victory Field Consultation Results 2025
    • 157 responses (153 online and 4 paper forms)
    • 60% like proposals & would definitely use
    • 28% like proposals & would probably use
    • 88% in favour overall
  • December 2025
    Full Council approval to employ the Project Centre at a cost of £32,995.20 + VAT.

  • Officers to engage with Project Centre to:
    • Refine detailed design using feedback from public consultation
    • Support Parish Council with a community consultation event on final design
    • Prepare tender documents for Contracts Finder
    • Manage project on behalf of the parish council
